It is more than simply feeling tired or drowsy. Fatigue is caused by prolonged periods of physical and\/or mental exertion without enough time to rest and recover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E428\">Fatigue is generally caused by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>spending long periods of time awake<\/li><li>having an inadequate amount and\/or quality of sleep over an extended period.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E434\">Fatigue can be a major source of stress on our bodies and fatigue can significantly affect how we function on a day-to-day basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E441\"><strong>What causes fatigue?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E443\">While fatigue is generally caused by lack of sleep or poor-quality sleep, there are several related factors that can contribute to its development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Stress<\/li><li>Poor balance between increased activity without adequate rest<\/li><li>Heavy family and social obligations<\/li><li>High level of community activities Emotional issues (for example, relationship pressures)<\/li><li>Age<\/li><li>Poor health and fitness levels<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E459\"><strong>What can I do about it?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E461\">Below is some tips to help with managing fatigue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-regular\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td>Personal factors affecting sleep<\/td><td>-Avoid excessive alcohol as this can disturb your sleep.<br>-Avoid caffeine a few hours before bed.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Medical conditions affecting sleep, such as sleep apnoea<\/td><td>-Seek medical advice.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Poor sleep environment<\/td><td>-Install heavy curtains that keep the light out.<br>-Reduce the volume of the telephone and the television \u00e2\u20ac\u201c don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t keep them in the bedroom.<br>-Keep the bedroom cool.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Poor sleep practices (e.g. watching television in bed, drinking coffee or alcohol or eating a heavy meal before going to bed)<\/td><td>-Get into a routine for going to sleep (e.g. take a warm shower or relaxing bath before going to bed, listen to soothing music).<br>-Avoid heavy meals, alcohol and tea or coffee before going to bed.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Hectic family\/social life<\/td><td>-Plan your family\/social activities and ensure you get sufficient rest.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would like more advice, please speak to the team to help implement these tips into your routine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button aligncenter\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/checkyournewsite.co.uk\/simpsonphysio\/phone-consult\/\" style=\"background-color:#008696\">ARRANGE FOR A FREE PHONE CONSULT<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Andy Caldow What is fatigue?
