Who Is Tanaeya Burch, Founder of InTouch Therapy?

Helping people move with confidence has always been at the heart of Dr. Tanaeya C. Burch’s career. As the founder of InTouch Therapy, she has spent more than two decades dedicated to helping the Bermuda community recover from injury, regain independence, and live healthier, more active lives through evidence-based physiotherapy and compassionate, patient-centred care.

After graduating with a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Andrews University in 2003, Tanaeya began her career at Florida Hospital South in Orlando before returning home to Bermuda the following year. She joined King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where she worked across a variety of clinical settings for more than seven years, gaining invaluable experience treating a wide range of orthopaedic, neurological and complex medical conditions.

It was during her time at the hospital that she recognised the need for specialised lymphedema services within Bermuda. Driven by a desire to improve patient care, she proposed and helped establish the island’s dedicated Lymphedema Clinic in 2006, becoming one of Bermuda’s first fully certified Lymphedema Therapists. That commitment to identifying gaps in healthcare and bringing advanced services to the community has remained a defining part of her career ever since.

In 2012, Tanaeya fulfilled a lifelong ambition by opening InTouch Therapy. Her vision was to create a welcoming outpatient clinic where every patient would receive one-to-one, hands-on treatment in a supportive environment, with care tailored specifically to their goals. Rather than simply treating symptoms, her philosophy centres on understanding the whole person, identifying the underlying cause of a problem, and empowering patients with the knowledge and confidence to take control of their recovery.

Throughout her career, Tanaeya has continued to expand her expertise so she can offer the very best care to the people of Bermuda. She has undertaken advanced training in Women’s Pelvic Health, becoming qualified to provide specialised pelvic floor rehabilitation, and later achieved STAR Clinician certification, enabling her to deliver oncology rehabilitation to individuals recovering from cancer treatment. She has also completed additional training in acupuncture, cupping and kinesiology taping, allowing her to offer a broad range of treatment approaches tailored to each individual’s needs.

Her dedication to lifelong learning recently culminated in earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Winston-Salem State University in 2024. This further enhanced her clinical expertise and reflects her ongoing commitment to bringing the latest evidence-based techniques and innovative treatment technologies to InTouch Therapy.

Beyond the treatment room, Tanaeya has played an active role in advancing the physiotherapy profession across Bermuda. She has served on the Board of Physiotherapy, chaired the Bermuda Physiotherapy Association, and represented the profession internationally through annual North American Caribbean Region meetings. These leadership roles reflect her passion not only for helping individual patients, but also for strengthening physiotherapy services throughout the island.

Above all, Tanaeya believes great healthcare starts by listening. Every patient who walks through the doors of InTouch Therapy has their own story, goals and challenges, and she believes they deserve personalised care that is rooted in trust, compassion and clinical excellence. Whether someone is recovering from surgery, managing a long-term condition, returning to sport, or simply hoping to move more comfortably, her mission remains the same: to help people restore movement, rebuild confidence, and get back to living life on their own terms.
